Investing in the right Accident Benefits policy brings peace of mind and security, knowing that you and your family are protected in case of unforeseen circumstances.

Medical, Rehabilitation, and Attendant Care Benefit

This benefit covers the following:

  • Reimbursement for any reasonable, necessary (as determined by a doctor) medical not covered by OHIP or Group Insurance Plans.
  • Reimbursement for an attendant to look after you either at home or within a healthcare facility.
  • Minor Injuries (sprains, whiplash) and Serious Injuries (broken bones).
  • Catastrophic injuries (loss of a limb, para/quadriplegia).
Standard Enhanced
  • $65,000 limit for Medical, Rehabilitation and Attendant Care (for Non-Catastrophic Injuries);
  • $1,000,000 limit for Medical, Rehabilitation and Attendant Care (for Catastrophic Injuries);
  • $3,500 limit for Minor Injuries such as sprains and whiplash.
  • Option 1: $65,000 for Non-Catastrophic Injuries / $2,000,000 for Catastrophic Injuries
  • Option 2: $130,000 for Non-Catastrophic Injuries / $1,000,000 for Catastrophic Injuries
  • Option 3: $130,000 for Non-Catastrophic Injuries / $2,000,000 for Catastrophic Injuries
  • Option 4: $1,000,000 for All Injuries / $2,000,000 for Catastrophic Injuries
  • Option 5: $1,000,000 for All Injuries / $3,000,000 for Catastrophic Injuries

Income Replacement Benefit

This benefit will provide a weekly income that begins one week after the accident occurs.

Standard Enhanced
  • 70% of gross income up to $400/week.
  • Extend Increase benefit to $600, $800, or $1,000/week.

Caregiver Benefit

This benefit will reimburse some of the costs if you need to hire someone to care for your dependants because you are unable to due to a car accident.

Standard Enhanced
  • Up to $250/week for first dependant, $50/week for additional dependants (Catastrophic Injuries only).
  • Extend benefit to cover all injuries (not just Catastrophic Injuries).

Housekeeping and Home Maintenance Expenses

This benefit will provide reimbursement for someone to perform your household responsibilities.

Standard Enhanced
  • Up to $100/week (Catastrophic Injuries only).
  • Extend benefit to cover all injuries (not just Catastrophic Injuries).

Death and Funeral Benefit

This Benefit includes two lump payments: the first to your surviving spouse or dependants, and the second to cover the cost of funeral expenses. Dependants refers to children under the age of 18 living in the home and any other person who is 100% dependent on the deceased person. There is no limit to the number of dependents, however, parents/siblings/friends listed in your Will would not be eligible to receive this benefit.

Standard Enhanced
  • $25,000 to spouse
  • $10,000 to each Dependant
  • Up to $6,000 for funeral
  • Increase to $50,000 for spouse
  • Increase to $20,000 for each Dependant
  • Up to $8,000 for funeral

Dependant Care Benefit

Reimbursement for additional expenses to care for your dependants if you’re injured from a car accident. Expenses can include taking your kids to school or sporting events.

Standard Enhanced
  • Not provided.
  • Purchase up to $75/ week for first dependant and $25/week for additional dependants (max $150/week).

Indexation Benefit

Adjustment to all of your benefits to account for changes in inflation.

Standard Enhanced
  • Not provided.
  • Annual increase in benefits to account for inflation, according to the Consumer Price Index of Canada.

Tort Deductible

If you use your insurance to file a lawsuit for pain and suffering, and if at the conclusion of the lawsuit you receive compensation of less than the specified amount shown below, you will have to pay a deductible. This benefit can help you reduce the cost associated with the deductible.

Standard Enhanced
  • If your award for a pain and suffering case is under $130,000, then a deductible of $38,818.97 will be taken off your settlement;
  • If your award under the Family Law Act is below $64,697.21, then a deductible of $19,409.49 is applied.
  • Note: Deductibles increase roughly 2.2% every year with inflation.
  • General pain and suffering deductible can be reduced to $20,000;
  • Family Law Act deductible reduced down to $10,000.
