Account Manager, Personal Lines

Job Description

As an Account Manager in PROLINK’s Personal Insurance department, you will use a consultative approach to advise clients and help them make educated decisions about their personal insurance needs. You will work to understand each client’s risk management needs, identify gaps in coverage and loss exposures, and ensure each client feels confident in their choice of broker, insurer(s) and solutions. You will foster a sense of belonging to the PROLINK organization such that your clients they view you as “their personal connection in the insurance business” who can help them, their families, and their networks.

By the end of the first quarter, you should be able to:

  • Organize and prioritize work to have a clear understanding of writing certificates and the details required;

  • Independently navigate through various insurance portals, rate manuals, wordings, and bulletins;

  • Follow departmental best practices and provide clear and detailed notes for every client interaction from start to finish.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate client relationships by taking the time needed to understand their unique requirements and explore the opportunity to upsell or cross-sell insurance products;;
  • Manage the renewal process;
  • Act as the primary client advocate on claims when necessary;
  • Collaborate with both sales and service teams to effectively manage and grow our account base;
  • Oversee, guide, or instruct support staff as needed on:The preparation and timely issuance of policies, cover notes, certificates of insurance, binders, invoices and client correspondence, where applicable; and the administration of claims reporting with insurers;
  • Ensure accurate billing and accounting;
  • Escalate any incidents or potential conflicts with clients or colleagues to senior management as needed;
  • Document all client correspondence and underwriting information on PROLINK’s Broker Management System, sales pipeline tools, and other company portals;
  • Stay updated on industry trends and solutions to keep clients fully informed with relevant information and perspectives.

Education & Experience

The ideal candidate will meet many to most of the following requirements:

  • Education: Must be RIBO Licensed.
  • Experience: A minimum of 1 – 3 years of experience in Account Management in an insurance brokerage or insurance company. Exposure to Underwriting, Personal Insurance (Home and Auto) or Group Insurance is strongly preferred.
  • Skills: Comfort with managing multiple demands, with proven organizational, time-management and prioritization skills. Detail-oriented, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume environments. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is an asset.
  • Softer Skills: A team player with a client-centric approach, ready to deliver great service. A positive attitude with the flexibility to support the team with any ad-hoc needs.
