Account Executive, Life and Benefits

Job Description

As an Account Executive, you will provide sales and administrative support to PROLINK’s Life and Benefits department. You will demonstrate and continue to develop expertise in understanding client needs in life, critical illness, disability, health & dental, HSA’s, and group benefits insurance, as well as various products and options available from Canada’s major life insurers. You will advise clients on a full range of life and benefits solutions and provide an exceptional, consultative experience at every level of interaction.

By the end of the first quarter of your employment with PROLINK, you will:

  • Have full knowledge of PROLINK exclusive Association Benefits Plans;

  • Be able to quote with ease, process new business, and maneuver portals; and

  • Take initiative in identifying areas of opportunity in sales and marketing.

Responsibilities

Sales:

  • Take the time to understand clients’ unique needs and offer life and group benefit insurance solutions (both renewal and new business) accordingly;

  • Identify prospects and obtain referrals from within your client base, as well as other lines of business within PROLINK (i.e. Personal Insurance, Commercial Enterprise, Commercial Programs);

  • Meet or exceed the forecasted premium volume and commission growth goals as established by your supervisor;

  • Conduct proper fact finds/needs analysis and complete necessary compliance reports;

  • Provide ongoing support to the Vice President of the Life and Benefits Department;

  • Participate in weekly sales meetings.

 

Client Service:

  • Ensure that your clients are appropriately educated on their insurance options and feel confident in their choice of broker, insurer(s), and solutions;

  • Serve clients with appropriate speed and empathy in the event of a pressing need, a life change, or an unfortunate event;

  • Cultivate relationships with all of PROLINK’s key departments to develop trust and provide and receive referrals;

  • Build and maintain relationships with our key insurers and underwriters such that they become partners in serving you and your clients effectively;

  • Foster collaboration with all clients, prospects, industry colleagues and partners, by helping as needed, resolving conflicts, and showing a willingness to put in the extra effort when a situation demands it;

  • Deliver a consistent client experience by documenting all client correspondence and claims information on the Broker Management System and other company portals.

Education & Experience

The ideal candidate should meet many to most of the following requirements:

  • Education: Must be LLQP licensed. Post secondary/university education is preferred.

  • Experience: A minimum of four years of experience in a life and health insurance sales capacity.

  • Technical Skills: Strongly preferred:

    • MS Office Suite, including Outlook;

    • SIG by KEAL;

    • Insurers’ quoting software (i.e. Canada Life, iA, iA excellence, CPP, Equitable Life, Manulife, RBC, Desjardins Financial, etc.);

    • Insurers’ extranet and FASAT web (contract and compensation); and

    • APEXA, an industry-wide contracting and & broker compliance platform.

  • Soft Skills: A team player with a client-centric approach, ready to deliver great service. Comfort with managing multiple demands, with proven organizational, time-management and prioritization skills. A positive attitude with the flexibility to support the team with any ad-hoc needs.
